The Philadelphia Inquirer had staff photographers pooling the five company cars needed to go out on assignments and they didn't know what they needed and maybe they'd have to cover another totally different assignment right after they finished. The Inky photo staff needed a camera bag. J.G. Domke too! He was a staff photographer and frustrated with his fishing bag. Director of Graphics, Gary Haynes, decided he had to find a camera bag that would last longer than the store bought ones he was replacing every six months. And, he wondered if the leather sandal maker on South St. could make twenty bags in 1975 from scratch, Jim jumped at the opportunity to get a bag that how he wanted a bag to be. Domke Photo Resource started as a part-time business in 1976, went full-time in 1980. Grew into a line of camera bags, photo vest, camera straps, light panels and Peak magnifiers.
